MONTHLY BUSINESS MEETING KD5UZF The October 2, 2010 General meeting started with breakfast served by Chef Cash who was substituting for Chef Terry. The presentation on Solar Power as brought to us by Joe Ostroski and also featured a tour of his shack. At 10:30 President Vern called the meeting to order. Old and new business were combined . The first order of business was the nomination of officers for next year. We are in need of a president, a vice-president and an education coordinator. This is very important in order to keep things running smoothly next year. If you are able to fill one of these positions, please let Vern know. Henry reported that the Santa Teresa Weather Station is up at WX5ELP. It is a UHF/VHF (according to my notes) station. It is loaded in on 64 and will encompass El Paso , Las Cruces, Deming and the Mega-link. He also mentioned the Albuquerque weather station WX5ABQ. Henry is also coordinating a Tech class to be held here at the clubhouse in January with the County. Joe O. and John and Sandy Hempfling will be testing and he has several testers lined up as well. We have a new member named Art. Art, I did not hear your last name. We will get in next time. Robert reported that the Micor is back in place. We still need to set up a repeater fund. George is still doing Net check in on Wednesday at 6:45pm on 64 and 76. He also reported that we won't do the Baylor Pass race this year, but we will do the Turkey Trot at Thanksgiving. He will have the details at the November meeting. The meeting adjourned at 10:45 MONTHLY BOARD MEETING KD5UZF Board Meeting Present at the meeting were WV5N Vern Vonheeder. KD5UZF Melanie Jack, KD5SSJ Cash Olsen, KE5OFK Robert Truitt, AD5LJ Bob Bennett, AD5FEHenry Schotzko, KF5DNS Terry Angle, KD5OHA George Kopp K5XY Alex Burr, WB4AEJ Fred Atkinson The meeting was called to order at 7pm. George reminded us that the Turkey Trot needs 8-10 people. The reason for the slow down in race participation for next year is due to poor health of Don Shapen who has been coordinating the races. George is working on the possibility of APRS at Bataan to do tracking. Cash is going to be in communication with NMSU about the MVRC Scholarship. Bob is going to get a hook for the new screen door. He is also looking into mountings for the 6 meter beam and pricing for rotors. We will need dollars if we can't re-condition those that several members have that they are not using. Bob and Robert are going to do some clean-up at the repeater. Henry reported again on the status of the Santa Teresa Weather station. It is a 75 meter NVIS loop (EP,LC, Deming, Mega-link). The Tech class for January is set for the 4,5,6. He is coordinating with Steve Lopez of NMSU and David of the County. He has 5 testers and 5 instructors lined up at this time. Fred says the tax information is still in bureaucracy limbo, but he is working on it. Robert reported that the Micor is in place. 64 is up and the Kenwood is in for repair. He suggested that we have a fund raiser for the repeaters. We could also use a spare controller. We need to re-tune the Micor. A TKR750 will cost $900 and the control $200, so we need $1100-1200. When we collect funds for the repeater that information needs to go to Robert. Vern Reminded us that he would send an e-mail about the up-coming elections. Alex is wanting everyone to please send him information for the Local Oscillator in order to make it interesting for all members. Please use a PDF format. This makes it easier for him to to transfer.
