The swap meet will open at 8:00 AM. The bean feed meal will start at about 11:30 AM. The meal price will be $4.00, same as last year. We will have talk-in on the club’s 146.64 repeater and the PL tone will be turned off for the event. This year we will have a door prize to award, courtesy of ARRL. The parking lot in front of the clubhouse is reserved for people who want to sell stuff and handicapped parking. Parking is available on the west side of Wilt Ave in the open lot. PLEASE do not block the driveways near the parking lot and do not park in the street on either Jefferson or Wilt Avenues. Also, do not block the driveway to the houses north of the clubhouse. CLUBHOUSE PAINTING AD5LJ On Saturday, 12 April, five of us got together and put the second coat of paint on the clubhouse walls. All that remains to be done is to paint the exterior doors and doorframes. My Thanks to Gloria Homer (KD5UZG), Mike Homer (KC5SKF), Henry Schotzko (AD5FE) and to Jim Guganig (N5TQW) for their help. CLUB DUES AD5LJ I must remind everyone who has not paid their 2003 dues that they are now delinquent. At the current time, we have about 58 members from 2002 that have paid their 2003 dues. This means that forty or so people have not paid yet and they will shortly be getting phone calls from the board members. On 1 June, all people who have not paid will be dropped from the club membership. BUSINESS MEETING AD5LJ Our next combined Saturday breakfast and business meeting will be on 3 May. Hope to see you there. PSK-31 K5DI Here are some things to think about. PSK-31 needs a radio, a computer with Windows 98 or better, and some small parts to make an interface unit. The computer must have a sound card installed. The software is free and you download it from a web site with this address: http://www.digipan.net The latest and it appears last version is available for download. If you are interested in the technical side of PSK-31 you can install the software and read the help files. Maybe even print some of it. I did. You will need an antenna for the radio and in my demonstration to the MVRC I will have a good antenna to hook to my radio. Since my radio is a QRP radio I can only make 5 watts of power. But with PSK-31 I can work the world because it works as well as Morse code. If you and your family get on PSK-31 you can use it like the Internet to send messages to each other. But for me it's just a fun way to make Ham Radio Contacts. So get the software and read the help and come to the meeting with questions to stump me. WALK-A-THON WK5C The MVRC provided support to the annual MS Walk-a-thon on Saturday, 5 April, at Young Park and area roads near it in Las Cruces. Thanks to Henry AD5FE, Sandy and John, KJ5Q and N5WQ, Sid KD5SSA, Ron WA2UCZ, Brad KC5SKE, Joe WZ5R, and John WK5C. 3 rest stations were manned, intersections where the route changed directions were staffed, and Brad and his YL Jennifer provided bicycle mobile support that proved valuable due to the walkers being strung out over the length of the course. Las Cruces City FD provided EMS support but none was needed. The fund raising efforts were successful as quite a few sponsors came forward. Thanks to the hams that supported this event.
